How a Pleasant Grove Family Transformed Their Main Floor — Without Moving

A real kitchen and living area remodel by Design Your Price in Pleasant Grove, Utah

Location: Pleasant Grove, Utah
Project Type: Main Floor Remodel
Design: 2 months
Demo& Construction: 3 months
Areas Remodeled: Kitchen, Dining Area, Living Area

Project Overview

This project is a real main floor remodel we completed for a homeowner in Pleasant Grove, Utah. The home had good bones and a great location — but the kitchen and living space were no longer working for the way the family actually lived. Counter space was limited, appliances were cramped, and the layout made it hard to cook, host, and gather comfortably.

Rather than moving, the homeowners chose to reimagine their main floor entirely — creating a space that was both beautiful and genuinely functional.

The Challenge

The homeowners wanted a kitchen that could keep up with a busy household — with more usable space, smarter storage, and a layout that made cooking and entertaining feel effortless.

Key challenges included:

  • Limited counter and storage space in the existing kitchen
  • A layout that didn’t support how the family used the space
  • Wanting a high-end, cohesive look across the kitchen, dining, and living areas
  • Keeping the project on budget while achieving a significant transformation

The Scope of Work (Rough)

To meet the family’s goals, we completed a full main floor remodel that touched every inch of the kitchen, dining, and living areas.

Project scope included:

  • Full kitchen redesign with custom two-tone cabinetry (white uppers, warm wood-tone lowers)
  • Large kitchen island with sink, dishwasher, seating, and pullout trash
  • Quartz countertops and full quartz backsplash
  • Gas cooktop with custom wood-wrapped range hood
  • Built-in double wall oven and 75” tall double refrigerator
  • Hidden appliance garage to keep counters clean and clutter-free
  • Pantry and utility closet built into the cabinetry wall
  • Custom fireplace wall with built-in bookshelves and display cabinetry
  • New flooring throughout the main floor
  • Updated staircase railing

Project Investment: ~$100,000
Project Timeline: December 2025 – May 2026

The Solution

We designed a space that balanced everyday practicality with a refined, elevated aesthetic. The two-tone cabinetry brought warmth and contrast, while the quartz surfaces and brass hardware tied the whole space together. The island became the centerpiece — giving the family room to cook, gather, and connect all in one place.

The fireplace wall transformed the living area from plain to purposeful, with custom built-ins providing display space and hidden storage that the family had never had before.

The Result

The completed remodel gave the Grierson family a home that finally matched their lifestyle.

Outcomes included:

  • A fully functional, open kitchen built for cooking and entertaining
  • Generous island seating for everyday family use
  • Ample storage across cabinetry, pantry, and appliance garage
  • A cohesive, high-end design across kitchen, dining, and living areas
  • A fireplace wall that anchors the living space beautifully
